Update! In April 2016, I changed jobs and became a new publicist with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), based in Vancouver. I will not be writing for Reel West or Women in Film + Television Vancouver anymore. I truly enjoyed working for these two marvelous organizations, but life is moving on.
Find me now on Twitter @NFB_Katja .

Update!
I recently moved to East Van and will re-launch the blog, at least, geographically.
Bye bye Dunbar, you were a fine neighbour – Hello East Van, let’s get things rolling!
(August 2015)

I am a Dunbar-Southlands resident and journalism grad from Langara College. Every day on the bus from Crown to Oakridge Centre, I wonder what is going on in the houses I observe.

What do people do for a living? How are they coping with today’s changes, as newcomers, as long-time residents? Where do their children go to school and how is their relationship with their neighbours?
Are they happy? Angry? What do they love about their community and what would they like to change?

I care about Vancouver’s Southwest and am looking forward to hearing your opinions and suggestions on what the media is missing when reporting about our neighbourhoods.

I will occasionally write about other issues that are dear to me, like film, arts & culture, the environment, or issues in the two countries I lived in before coming to Canada; Belgium and Germany. (January 2013)

You can find more information about me on Linkedin and follow me on twitter as @KatjaKanada.

  2. Katja, it was lovely to meet you today at Michael van den Bos’ private screening. I love your blog; it looks like you are doing an awesome job tapping into the goings-on on the west side.
