When I visited the open house of the “Block F” development at the University Golf Club between 6 and 7 p.m. today, only a few dozen people faced the rain and came out to look at the new proposals on display.
I was told this was quite the difference from an earlier public viewing on December 6, when people were lining up to get inside, according to the presenters.
I did manage to have a longer chat with Wade Grant, who represented the landowner Musqueam Band at the viewing tonight. Grant is currently the economic development coordinator for Musqueam First Nation.
I will upload Grant’s answers to my questions in the coming days.
According to the messages on the board and the few skeptical people whom I spoke with, the proposal of a 120-bedroom hotel on or near the Musqueam Creek seems to be one of the issues of most concern.
Other post-its said “no highrises” and “think of senior homes.”
